Nature
Colorless transparent liquid. Freezing point <50℃. Boiling point 144℃ (decomposition), 64(4.399kPa). The relative density is 1.655. Refractive index 1.4586. Flash point 62℃. Soluble in ethanol, ether, acetone, benzene, insoluble in water.
Preparation
Glacial acetic acid is used as raw material to co-heat reflux with red phosphorus and zeolite in acetic anhydride, when the temperature rises to 60 ~ 70℃, bromine is added, and after heat retention reaction for 1 hour, it is cooled and filtered, bromoacetic acid is distilled under reduced pressure, and then put into carbon tetrachloride with methanol, adding sulfuric acid, heating reflux, esterification, recovery of methanol, the remaining residue is washed, dried, and distilled under reduced pressure, and then obtained.
Use
Organic synthesis intermediates, solvents for insecticides and mildew removers.
