Dihydrogenated tallow methyl tertiary amine is a surfactant commonly abbreviated as N, n-dimethyl-1, 3-propylenediamine dihydrogen](stearyl) methyl]-. It is a colorless to light yellow waxy solid with good solubility and emulsification.
Dihydrogenated tallow methyl tertiary amine is widely used in chemical, pesticide, paint and detergent industries. It can be used as an emulsifier, dispersant, mild surfactant and lubricant. In addition, in the process of water treatment, dihydrogenated tallow methyl tertiary amine can also be used as deoiling agent and demud agent.
The preparation of dihydrogenated tallow methyl tertiary amine is generally obtained by hydrogenation of stearic acid. The hydrogenation reaction is carried out using a catalyst and hydrogen gas under the appropriate temperature and pressure conditions.
It is a low-toxic substance, but should still be avoided in contact with skin and eyes. Wear appropriate personal protective equipment such as gloves and goggles when using. When storing and handling should be away from fire sources and oxidants to prevent fire or explosion.
