Triethylamine is a colorless to pale yellow liquid with a strong pungent smell of amine, boiling at 89.5 °C. It dissolves in ethanol and ethyl ether but only slightly in water, forming an alkaline solution. Its vapor can form explosive materials upon exposure to air and emits a toxic, pungent fog. Primarily used as a solvent, curing agent, catalyst, polymerization retarder, and in yin-polymerization processes.
