Dimethyl carbonate is an organic compound with chemical formula C3H6O3, also known as DMC, CAS No.: 616-38-6, EINECS No.: 210-478-4. Chemical raw materials are an important organic synthesis intermediate, which has the characteristics of safe use, convenience, less pollution, and easy transportation in production.
The solvent is one of the three major materials of the electrolyte, and the carbonate solvent mixture system is commonly used. DMC is the predominant carbonate solvent. (also includes ethyl carbonate (DEC), ethyl methyl carbonate (EMC), ethylene carbonate (EC), propylene carbonate (PC), etc.)
CFI believes that the recent increase in solvent maintenance, the recovery of demand for DMC downstream electrolyte and polycarbonate PC, the good orders from solvent manufacturers, and the low inventory. Considering the high growth of electrolyte demand in the second half of the year, Zhejiang Petrochemical and Hainan Huasheng two sets of PC plants with a total of 400,000 tons are put into operation, which will drive the demand for 160,000 tons of industrial-grade DMC, while the new solvent production capacity is expected to be put into production by the end of 2022. From the perspective of supply, there are 14 domestic enterprises producing DMC, and there are few large-scale enterprises, mainly concentrated in leading enterprises such as Shi Dashenghua and Hualu Hengsheng. Due to the difficulty of the battery-grade solvent process, the new production capacity in the future will be mainly controlled by the existing manufacturers, and the industry will continue to be excellent in the future.
